Aphrodite had seen a lot of things in her life. Monsters included. That wasn't was unnerved her when the street lights went out, and the monster's glow was the only thing that let her see. She wasn't that put off, by the flames, or the lightning. She approved of the horn, She always did like Unicorns. Even if they tended to prefer "virgins"..picky little...

It was the 6 legs that did it. The six legs look was not flattering.

"Ummm..."

The Rune incarnation did not often take notice of puny humans. They were all just blank slates, little figures scurrying away from it. But that one radiated a sensation of power. The beast turned one baleful, glowing blue eye at Aphrodite, and snorted in her direction.

Oh that look was creepy. It was just adding to the Tartarus feeling of the City.

"Hehehe, hi horsey," she giggled nervously and waved at the monster.

It regarded the individual for a moment, and then abruptly charged her. It's what True Runes do. Powerful people sealed Runes, so this person had to be stopped.

Trying to keep up with the Rune incarnation was harder than it looked. But with enough people tracking it and keeping it busy, Geddoe figured it was only a matter of time before they caught up to it. He messaged those who had responded to his plea to meet him at Battery Park (so the sign said). It seemed as though the creature was trying to head out over open waters.

No one would know from the way he walked that he lacked the use of his dominant arm. His hand was still numb, making it impossible to hold a sword. But he refused to be left out of this inevitable battle, not solely for logical reasons. Hiding all signs of injury, he stormed toward the park at the end of the penninsula, ignoring tourists who seemed to be evacuating after reports of a severe thunderstorm headed toward the Statue of Liberty.

Soul wasn't too far behind Lyra, though he was a bit slower in his approach -- hands tucked away in his pockets and attention quickly cast toward the creature. His teeth grit. If it was going toward the water, then no one needed to tell him that that would probably amplify its power. His head canted toward Geddoe, and then he looked back toward Lyra.

"Sounds like the best plan, right?"

Soul reached out, grabbing Lyra's hand. There was a glimmer of light and the transformation took place, leaving her with the living scythe.

It had been a stressful day for Fakir. He'd been peer pressured into actually doing his chores as opposed to blowing out of the apartment at the earliest opportunity to see Bruno, and the few conversations he'd had at home had been tense and stilted. He also hadn't seen Mytho all day, and despite his reasoning that he should give his friend some breathing room, part of him found that troubling ( ... )

Bruno had been getting less and less sure about this movie choice as the film went on. Thiiiiiiis seemed like more the kind of thing Aki or Ruka might watch. May...be. In any case he'd started to notice that they were pretty much the only men in the theater after a group of teenage girls a couple rows behind him and Fakir started pointing at them and giggling delightedly ( ... )

"That's what I'm trying to find out," Fakir said as he shoved the heavy emergency exit door open. The alarm sounded behind him, nearly drowned out by a peel of thunder. Lightning flashed cross the sky, and Fakir found himself planting a hand on the weapon clipped to his belt as he walked out to the street, just for the reassurance that he hadn't forgotten it this time. "I'm going to find that girl who wished for something exciting to happen and slap her in the mouth."

"Hey-- wait!" Bruno sprinted out after Fakir, worries for him. Once he was out on the street he slowed to a walk and stared around in awe at the sights, lightning constantly arching low across the sky and haltingly illuminating the lightless streets. He protectively edged closer to Fakir and found himself slowly getting into one of the karate stances that Cassandra had taught him.

"... Maybe it's just a bad thunderstorm," he said, sounding profoundly unconvinced.

Unicorns were good things, normally. Unicorns were bright and noble and pure, and like good things. But unicorns that stormed over the City in a threatening the power and the people were not good.

And very un-unicorn-like. So Mary, being a good and noble superheroine, flew out to stop it from causing more destruction and damage. Seeing it on the horizon, and remembering Mr. Geddoe's words, Mary flew and plowed into the side of the horse as hard as she possibly could.

"You leave this City alone!" she cried.

The Rune incarnation flailed a bit in the air and let out a deep-throated scream of displeasure at being attacked. It was a solid hit. But incarnations were not weak, and they fought back. It paused to stabilize itself, and then tossed its head in a wide sweep, swinging its horn like a sword at the tiny figure that had attacked it.

Despite the lightning strikes and the power outages across the City, Ysera had not actually seen their source. The True Rune might have been easier to see in the dark of night, except that Ysera had been wrapped up in dreams at the time.

She had noticed an odd prevalence of lightning and horned-equines in the dreams of those who could sleep, but she had not connected it with a being in the waking world. Not until now, anyway.

Now, though... Now she saw the creature.

She had just been about to enter a grocery store when the power on this block went out and the doors refused to open. With a frown she'd stepped back, and that was when she felt... somethingIt was a power of some kind, but she couldn't place it. She frowned, frustrated once more with this mortal body the Porter had forced her into with all of it's limitations. She turned away from the store and tried to track the source of the feeling. It was still such a vague feeling that she was sure she must be going the wrong way, until she heard it up ahead. The crackling ( ... )

The Rune incarnation hovered where it was, ceasing its attacks for the moment. Dragons were unusual, rare, but not unheard of in its world, there was in fact a True Rune dedicated to summoning dragons from their dimension to reside in the world and cooperate with humans. But True Lightning and the Dragon Rune had not met for many long centuries.

And so the incarnation floated there, silent, its glowing eyes regarding the dragon meeting it face to face, electricity rippling along its hide. Without a voice, it could not communicate, but it did contain the presence of a deity and the memories of eons somewhere inside it.

Ysera back-winged before the Ancient, more or less hovering not too far distant from the being. A deep, amiable rumble rose from her chest before she spoke.

"Greetings, Ancient one. I am Ysera, Mistress of the Emerald Dream."

This close, even with her powers constrained by the body the Porter had forced her to assume, in her true form Ysera could clearly sense the power pouring off the Lightning Ancient. She had not been incorrect in her assumption. This power was different, yet akin to the demigod Ancients of Azeroth.

This close, True Lightning might even be able to sense the power of an Aspect of Nature that lay within Ysera herself. Trapped in this world, Ysera could not use that power, but being brought here did not change the essence of what she is. She was still the Dragon Aspect of Nature, Mistress of the Emerald Dream, and an Eternal in her own right.

Despite its inability to behave as a sentient being in this form, the True Rune did understand that this dragon was powerful, and vaguely akin. The only thing it could really do was stand down its attacks for now, reverting to a waiting state in mid-air. If it were attacked again, it would flee, but for now, it would simply observe.
