Alex had thought of sending her one more text-- I love you-- and the three short words were already typed out on his phone. But something kept his thumb hovering over the send button, and something held him back from sending the message. He figured she'd want to hear that in person, instead. He had no idea what she wanted to tell him, and therefore assumed the worst.

He hurried through the corridors, stepping out onto the lawn and making his way over to where the silhouette he'd recognise anywhere was already waiting.

He had a bad feeling about this.

She came close to him when he made his way onto the lawn, holding her hands out as she started to levitate. Lorna used her powers to raise him up to her level, and she lifted him more so their hands could entwine. Seeing him made her feel so nervous, but she needed to tell him about this. She wanted to.

"Fly with me, Alex."

His instincts protested when his feet no longer had something solid to stand on, but he trusted Lorna and they'd done this more times than he could count, anyway. Alex held her hand firmly out of habit rather than necessity, looking at her wordlessly but questioningly.

What did she have to say?

"We should go somewhere," she told him, as they soared through the sky. "I think...the beach? It should be quiet now."

And they always went there to angst.
