It would feel remarkably like quitting anyway. Probably best not to. If he could trust....
It was stupid to be thinking along these lines. But it had been right then, and... Maybe Bruce'd had more reason than one to ditch Robin all those years back. Slag, maybe that had been the reason.
Didn't matter. He just needed to get his head on straight, start acting like he was supposed to. It seemed like a quietish night too, maybe that was for the best.
Terry felt lost in his skin and lost in this city that wasn't at all his. He missed home.

But maybe she shouldn't be running, because turning that last corner made her crash into a wall. A moveable wall. Oh, it was a person. Had she run into him, or was it deliberate on his part?
If he grabbed at her, she was going to kick him in the nuts. She didn't care how tall he...
Her gaze had finally reached his face. Her jaw fell open, and she immediately threw herself at him again for a hug. "Oh my God! Terry! How the... is everyone getting yanked around by that machine?"

He did grab her, but it was more as a precursor to throwing her into (maybe through) the nearest wall before he started thinking. Then he finally recognized her - "Mel-" - about half a second before she threw herself at him again, though intentionally this time. Terry froze like a puddle; an appropriate metaphor since that shock seemed to shatter just like ice when she hit him.
He almost staggered a step backwards when her weight hit him, it threw him off balance briefly- and after that he wasn't sure how to react.
What was she doing-
And what was she anyway?
He didn't move.
"Melanie. I... wasn't expecting to see you here." Funny, he didn't seem all that ( ... )

"I wasn't expecting to see you either. I was going home, and then there was this computer. None of twips around here could tell me how to get back to Gotham, and I thought I was going crazy for a bit. But if you're here, then I'm not."
She finally stops hugging him and takes a step back, although her hands stay near his shoulders. "What's going on? How are we not in Gotham? We were there this morning! Is this some sort of dream, and the next door I go through is gonna take me into a class room and I'll be naked?"
