Fakir, stuck on another lonely shift after being ditched by the last girl who had been left to work with him, simply allowed himself to be distracted and thoughtful rather than try and make Ness feel welcome. Nobody ever bought anything during his shifts anyway, unless they spent fifteen agonizing minutes harassing him first. He had a lot on his mind anyway, so he spared Ness a nod of recognition and nothing more.

Ness took a few minutes to peruse the selection of baked goodies, then looked up to Fakir.

"Do you carry peanut cheese bars?" He asked hopefully. So far he hadn't found any place in the City that carried the treat.

Fakir barely suppressed a grimace. "No, I don't think so. What are they?"

And why does the concept alone nauseate me?

"Peanut cheese bars," Ness said slowly. There wasn't much else to say about them, really.
