She left him out on the streets with lacerations all over his body and a crushed throat. Thankfully, some civilian noticed and called 9-1-1 to pick him up. They were there in five-ten minutes. He was in the emergency room for an hour. Then he was finally given his own room for closer observation. Nathan was in no shape, but he did try shaking everyone off until they threatened to call in the police and handcuff him to the bed. That wouldn't stop him (of course), but he reasoned with himself that he could waste a few minutes resting while he thought up his next course of action.

It might have crossed his mind to contact Domino, but he didn't need anyone else seeing him like this. He couldn't.

Yet she found him anywhere. Their psychic rapport clued her in (he should have known). Not saying a word, he turned his face away when she crawled in through the window.

"Nate," she repeated, her face softening at the sight of him. Any hard exterior she had been forcing up was almost completely gone now, and she drew closer. Rage was boiling up inside her along with the worry, and thoughts of blowing away whoever the fuck did this already entered her thoughts. "What happened?"

Nate watched Domino out of the corner of his eyes until she approached him. He cleared his throat and winced as he tried to speak and nothing came out. Good thing that wasn't his only option here.
