WHO: Jin, Katurian, and Takaya
WHERE: Outside the City, at a park
WHEN: Late night/early morning Tuesday, the 31st
WARNINGS: Violence, torture, KATURIAN'S AWFUL LIFE
SUMMARY: Jin and Katurian agree to meet. Jin has promised to free Takaya.
FORMAT: Paragraph

Katurian sent the time and location to Jin only two hours before the meeting. Monday, May 31st. One in the morning. Meadows Park. He was sure Jin was expecting more warning, and he was also sure Jin wasn't expecting it so early, before the sun even rose on their promised meeting day. Katurian didn't exactly specialize in this kind of destabilizing strategy (it's all in the guidebooks), but he figured that as a creative mind, there was no reason he shouldn't try.

And there were morbid reasons for the setup, too, as there always were. If he failed, there were plenty of giddy, excited, hamburger-wielding parkgoers ready to find his body that morning and report it to the City police. (He thought, somewhat excitedly, about the irony of dying on Memorial day, about the kind of person who might find him, if they'd remember his face forever, and then he decided he might want to start thinking about actually winning instead.) If he succeeded--

If he succeeded, Jin would be kept with Takaya. He knew enough about the man to know that he was dangerous, just as dangerous as Takaya, and although he didn't have any concrete proof, he was sure that he served just as well in captivity. He didn't reflect on what this might mean morally. He knew, just knew, that if he wanted to be a hero, it was going to get done.

He also knew that, no matter what, he wasn't letting Takaya free. Even if he had to die, he wasn't letting him free.

He stood behind a park bench while he waited, his hands resting on the cool wood. His gun was in his pants. He shivered.
