He didn't seem to be in pain, or anguish... just that something was bothering him, and that was enough to make her completely forget about what Luke and Lorelai were arguing about this time around, and turn her body to face him completely.

Five seconds later she even had the television turned off.

"Of course, Joseph. Anything at all."

Okay yes, she couldn't help but chuckle under her breath now, shaking her head at all the emotions coming off of him, combined with the expression on his face.
And yeah, he probably should have told her, since she's simply going by the memory of how short his hair had been the last she saw him in her world.

"Don't look like that, the last time I got that expression was when we took Lady to the vet for her shots. That was the look on her face on the way home."

A few more cuts, and she even rounded to the other side of him now.

Sorry, 'sad puppy' is my default. He signed, then began to play with the bottle-cap, flipping it across his knuckles, tilting his head whichever way she instructed him too and closing his eyes when she took her scissors to the longer parts of his sideburns.

Had to go the whole nine-yards after all.

"What am I ever going to do with you...?" she breathed out, but with a chuckle on the end of it as she ran her fingers through his hair again, and shook it a bit to get the loose pieces out, before going back to work to even it out.

"Do you promise to not secretly resent me for the rest of our lives?"

I promise to not even resent you for the rest of the day.

His smile is a bit smartassed now, and ... yeah he's starting to feel that beer. Not having eaten anything for dinner yet combined with not being much of a drinker has set him up with a nice low-level buzz, nervousness prying out of him bit by bit as she works.

She laughed a bit more, pausing so she didn't accidentally snip the scissors wrong in the middle of it, then she set back to work, mostly on the left side.

"I should give you a mohawk while I have you in my control like this. I'm sure Mary would enjoy that."

Yes, she just went there. She very much just went there.

Annnd with that the scissors were temporarily set aside while she just laughed, nearly doubled over the counter. She had never seen him panic like that before, and it was absolutely adorable, yet hilarious at the same time.

His reward for that was yet another beer before she even bothered to try and continue evening out the length.

"I'm just teasing you, calm down."

He took the beer from her, popped the cap off, took a few swallows, and then prompty flipped her the bird. This was, indeed, something he'd probably never have done without the first beer but hopefully the 'oooh you rascal!' sort of expression on his face offset the gesture.

Maybe Rimmer should have a mohawk.

Matter of fact, she had never seen him do that to anyone, but especially her, and at first she was stunned. Then she laughed again, and shook her head.

"I think it would clash with the officers uniform he plans to wear at the wedding actually."

Only a little bit.

No really, he didn't REALLY want Rimmer to look like a moron on his wedding day but it would be untoward as a member of the wedding party not to rib the groom at least a little bit.

After another sip of beer he added.

Please don't give me a mullet for making fun of your fiance.
