"Of course I am," he replied, as if it should be obvious regardless of whether or not it was. "I ought to ask you the same question."

He had wanted to help. He had wanted to stand by the City. Hell, so did she. She had enough people she had wanted to protect, wanted to stand beside. Yuugi, for one. Fakir, Duck, Mytho, even Rue...And of course, Bakura too.
It was hard to think about, of course...she herself wasn't really brave. At least, she never saw herself that way. She just did what she could, like she was doing now.
She hoped it would be enough. That what they both were doing would be enough.
...No. She was sure it would be. If everyone banded together...
She placed her hand on Bakura's shoulder with a smile, squeezing it as a sign of reassurance.
He'd do fine. She'd do fine.
They'd both do fine.
...
She hoped.

And what about her? What would she do?
She was sure that there were a lot of people with speed and strength here. Probably people who could fly, shoot X-ray beams, and cast magic spells. Bakura could heal.
...
She could do something. There was always something she could do. Even if it was just passing messages back and forth, or standing next to those she cared about, she had to do something. She couldn't just sit idly by...

When she had the time later, pushed her way carefully through the crowds to congradulate her classmate, "Oy, lovely speech, Lyra. Awesome Force is really setting a name for themselves in this City."

"Nice speech. X-Factor was government-sponsored, actually," he pointed to his brother afterward. "But that didn't work out so great."

"If you want to say something to or about your team though, you should," Scott said, clapping a hand on his brother's shoulder. The more he pushed Alex into this sort of thing the more comfortable he could get with it.

"Alright folks, I won't take much of your time. I've already given one speech to the network, but I'll take a little bit to address all of you in a more personal setting.
"I'm sure you know me, but if you don't, I'm Tony Stark. I also go by the apt name of 'Iron Man'.
"You all know me, you know my team as well. We're the longest-running team of Avengers in the city, and although we've had our problems in the past, we're here to do whatever we can to help the whole. I know I'm not the only one who agrees that the people in this city simply aren't equipped to deal with what's likely coming this way. I've made my calls to come together, and I've informed the natural citizens that we're going to do our best, and work with whoever will join with us to save the people here in the city ( ... )

"Have you considered assigning sections of the City to teams?" Scott said as he neared Tony after the man's speech. "It might be the best way to allocate resources."

"I've thought about it, but that's certainly something we'd need to discuss with the other leaders. If we could break it down into patrol areas, different teams could build up trust with the natives, so if something does happen, they'd trust them to get them to safety," he agreed. "It's something I'd like to look into, if at all possible."
