Mm, yeah. There are a lot of good things here -- like a lack of constant pressure to do this or that -- but I think the familiarity of possessions and people are the real downside. I can start over, but I can't replace the people I love. I can find new people to care for, but...

In the case of my disciple... He's a man that I've known for the better part of my life. I'd say nearly 50 years now. I am his tutor and his master, as that is tradition of his clan, but in so many ways Wong has taught me more than I could ever hope to convey to him. You're right in that I cannot replace him. And anyone I could find to care for... Well, I certainly doubt that they would ever be his equal, in my esteem.
