[ The video clicks on for a moment to reveal Nepeta's most sad face, her eyes welling with green-tinged tears and her lower lip pouting out in absolute, complete distress. Her face is obscured as she begins to type, hiccuping somewhat as she does and tries to fight back more tears. ]

[ Erik hesitates a moment before speaking, clearly trying to figure out how to talk to young girls when they are crying. ]

They--they did? [ She's looking up at him then, and she's still sniffling, though she seems placated by the knowledge that she is hardly alone in her feelings. ]

S-Somewhere safe?

[ He nods. ]

I have been told that people are often brought back to this place eventually. I hope that is the case.

You should not be caught in the crossfire when this... thing arrives.

I think I can take care of myself. I am a very good hunter, Erik! [ She is so sure of herself. Look at all of her sureness! You can't deny it. Then she seems to be thinking, and she's frowning a bit. ]

I hope that Equius comes back. Now I do not have my moirail at all..

[manlytear]

[ there is a pause before he responds, considering his words carefully ]

If you promise to make sure you are somewhere safe when the attack comes, I will take you upstate to go hunting when this is over.

[ Nepeta's eyes widen considerably at that and she's incredibly excited. ]

I will go somewhere safe! Where are you going? Can I go there with you?

[manlytear]

[ a pause ]

I am staying here. To help fight this in any way that I can.

Perhaps some of your friends are evacuating and you can go with them.

[purrfectlolcat]

[ Now she has all the frowns. ]

But it's not safe here. You just said it yourself. What if you get hurt? What about your moirail?

He would not be happy about this not one bit, I don't think. [ She pauses then. ] Equius did not like when I got into trouble...

[ Erik sighs. ]

He and I have already discussed this. We are staying to fight. It would be unconscionable for powerful individuals such as ourselves to not do everything we can to protect our people from this threat.

[purrfectlolcat]

[ She just stares at him then, for a very long time, before she's smiling widely. ]

Oh. How romantic!

Yes, of course it is! If you are going to fight a big monster together, side-by-side, what is not romantic about that?

You are very strange sometimes, I don't know why you don't think like me. [ LINEFACING. ]

I suppose I can see how that could be construed romantically.

But if you are going to be romantic with your moirail, then you should tell me, because then I am going to have to make all sorts of changes to my shipping wall and you are going to cause me all sorts of problems... getting into flushed quadrants like that!
