It's my birthday. I'm twenty-five years old today. [A pause.] I guess that's why I feel all introspective and thoughtful today.

[Another pause. This one's a lot longer.]

If you could pick any age to be again, which would you pick?

Happy birthday, young lady! Do you have a cake?

[Thoughtful]

I think that I would like to stay my age. It would be nice to be young again. But then I would not have my children.

Thank you, Mother Squirrel. I don't have one yet, I hope my husband gets me one.

Is it hard? Being a mother, I mean.

Please tell me if he does not. I will speak to him about the proper way to treat his wife.

[That is a strange mixture of the truth and a joke.]

It is difficult at times. Children have their own minds. You must do your best to teach them how to care for themselves, and protect them. Sometimes it does not work. That is when it is hard.

But there is nothing worth doing that is easy.

I appreciate that.

I'm scared about having children. My husband wants to have them soon, but I don't know that I'm ready yet.

Hey, happy birthday!

But that's a hard question. I've had the best of times and the worst of times all at the same time, you know? Twenty-five wasn't a bad year for me, actually.

Thanks, Spidey. How's the auction going?

I totally get that. Last year was simultaneously the best and worst year of my life. But I wouldn't trade it.

Faintly unnervingly. [In tones of wary but flattered incredulity:] There are people bidding on me, Firestar -- I don't understand it!

Aww! You struck someone's fancy! It's not that surprising, is it?

Oh, Happy Birthday!

I um... I would like to be very small. I don't know what age, but much smaller than this. I never got a chance.

Thank you.

How come you never got the chance?

I've always been this big. Well. I had a different body once, but I don't think that counts.

I haven't changed at all, really. I think it's really great that you get a birthday, though. Do you feel any different now?

I don't feel any different yet. Maybe once it settles a bit.

Don't you have a birthday?

Happy birthday, Angie.

And... probably six. Everything was nice and simple, then.

Six? Man, I barely remember what I was like when I was six... [but you do, gemmma...]

[all the bloomers. she just kind of gives a weird sort of laugh.]

Yes, well. I've a few rather vivid memories of that time, all of which are pleasant. I remember being... happy. Carefree.

What was your happiest memory, Gemma.

Happy Birthday.

I'd probably say somewhere in my mid-twenties, if I had to pick another age to be.

Thanks, Carol.

I think you're right. Twenty-five isn't bad so far. And twenty-four was pretty great, too.

Doing anything special today?

For me it depends on what month it was in a year. I was doing so many things that January of one year could be something I would never want to relive, but July was amazing.

Pietro and I are going out for dinner. He's running me to Venice.

I think I know what you mean. I always seem much busier in the winter time than in spring or summer.
