There's no need to be sorry at all.

[ NOT COMMENTING ON THE HAVING DIED THING NOPE ]

You could stay in the City until you're old, then go back. So you live out your life here and die back there already having lived life as best you could.

What if you don't?
What if you return to your world within a month?

I wouldn't believe 'em. How could they know for sure?

And even if it was true. Wouldn't matter. Can't choose to go home anyway. So stay here, and when I get sent back in the end...kick the ass of whoever's trying to kill me.

What if there is no way of changing your outcome and you will most definitely die, no matter what you do?

Then odds are I'd die.

How would you feel about that?

When I got 'ported in, I thought I was in whatever shitsack excuse there is for an afterlife.

You would imagine this to be the afterlife?

Last thing I remember's the nuke I was carrying into space about to go off, so yeah.

I'm dead there.

That doesn't bother you?
Knowing that if you return, you'll be dead.

I'd go home.

There are people here I care a lot about. But if I'm going to die, I want to see my family first if I could.

Besides. I'd probably die in combat. I hope it would be protecting someone.

Yes. An honorable death in battle is considerably better than one caused by a sudden illness or the like.
What if seeing your family wasn't an option?

I'd still go home. Home is home. And death is the one of the few certainties in life. Sometimes, I find that reassuring.

Mmn.
I'd have to agree.
