un ❄ video

[ A video clicks on, showing a very stern and less-than-pleased mutant with a furrowed brow and slightly pointed ears. He stares for a long, annoyed moment at the screen, counting in what sounds like French before he begins to speak. His accent is prevalent but he's not impossible to understand. French, to an untrained ear -- Québécois to someone ( Read more... )

[Erik has certainly picked up on the accent, and is addressing the other man in French in hope that it will make for easier communication. Here's hoping that there is not too much confusion thanks to dialect differences.]

You worked with Charles?

[ Well, the French certainly catches him off-guard! But Jean-Paul is intrigued and pleased. Because, well, he doesn't realize to whom he's speaking. Yet. ]

Oui, I have done. He used... methods with which to get me to do what he wished, and in the end I became a teacher for him.

You know of him? I should not be surprised.

[Erik suppresses the urge to chuckle at hearing of Charles' manipulative habits, and is not entirely surprised to hear about it.]

He is a close friend of mine. Though I believe it is not the version of him that you are familiar with.

[ Jean-Paul frowns, unfamiliar with this concept of 'versions' of people just yet. But he's sure he'll find out soon. Perhaps too soon. Though he does not mind for now, as this individual is quite handsome and worthy of his current attention and curiosity. ]

I am not familiar. What is this version you speak of? I cannot imagine the man being anything more than he is to me.

Ah, I'm sorry. The Porter is the device that brought you here. It brings people from all sorts of different... worlds, or timelines. I believe that you may be from the same world as many others I have met in the City.

My world is very similar to yours, though it also differs in many ways. There is another version of Charles and myself who exist in your world.

[He is somewhat hesitant to actually volunteer the information of his identity.]

[ WELP NOW HE'S CURIOUS SO LOOK WHAT YOU DUN DID. Jean-Paul raises his eyebrows at that. He's not stupid, and as far as he could remember, Charles didn't have very many close friends he could think of that fell into this same vein of.. how to say, intellect? ]

Then I feel it is necessary for introductions, if I am to know you in my own world.

What is your name? [ He's oh-so-curious, though he looks defensive -- deciding. ]

[Erik hesitates a moment before responding, though his hesitance does not show in his voice when he speaks.]

Erik. Erik Lehnsherr.

[He doesn't seem too phased by the reaction, since he was half expecting it.]

I have been called that, yes.

[ Here's Jean-Paul, verily regretting having ever thought this man was handsome. Welp. He's still sneering, but he seems to be... dealing with it.]

You do not appear as I know you.

I do not know if I should be intrigued or cautious.

Yes, it seems that your timeline is further along than my own world's. Charles and I were brought here from the year 1962. I have heard many... interesting things.

I suppose I should assure you that I am not a, ah, terrorist.

[ That certainly makes him raise his eyebrow. ] 1962... how awfully distant.

Mm. While I'd like to believe that, I should not get too carried away.

I'll wait until I'm sure about you.

Very well.

[It seems to be a common sentiment. At least this man isn't being outwardly aggressive.]

Is there anything you would like for me to pass on to Charles?

[He glances off to the side for a moment, as though looking at the man in question.]

[ Jean-Paul raises his eyebrows and says nothing for a moment, before he's smirking -- just a little. ] Got a little something going on, do we?

There is nothing I can think of right now. Just trying to get my bearings.
