It's analogous of New York City, for the most part, but in this alternate universe is simply known as The City.

Or, if you were asking more on general terms, we're stranded in an alternate universe until the poor-mannered AI that brought us here decides to let us go home.

Well, the stated reason is that this City needed heroes, not against any unified threat, but simply whatever arises. It's turned out to be both more complicated and simpler than that, as various aspects are taken into consideration.

There are some unsavory characters that have been brought here as well, and the situation with natives has been rather complicated lately. But our greatest threat is actually Lachesis herself.

It can be difficult to draw a clear line between where her interference begins and what has come about independently. Suffice to say she like to play with us as one would lab rats on occasion.

It's been relatively quiet lately, however.
