I've been wondering. Are the beings here that call themselves "gods" really genuine? It seems to me that gods ought to be strong enough to resist the Porter. So then maybe anything here is only a pale imitation, dealing in cheap tricks.

Mm. That being said... Can you kill a god, do you suppose?

Perhaps it stands to reason that some gods hold no power over inter-dimensional travel. Like say, one of those oddly specific gods in human lore. Like a god of peaches or something, I don't know.

And if I remember correctly, you can kill someone, but they will come back, so why go through the effort of doing so in the first place?

It would be worth the effort.

[He always knows just what to say to make people go 'uuuuh ignoring that'!]

But isn't the point of killing someone so that you never have to see their face again...? I can see that not working so well. But I would still like to see you try. It must be interesting, watching a god die.

That's only half of it. The other portion is devoted entirely to the pleasure of it.

depends on the god.

So I would assume. I wouldn't dream of challenging the gods on my own plane -- but those here seem to be of a different caliber.

Gotta be some kinda doozy of technology that can catch a God, eh?

Assuming, like I said, that they are gods. I'm not convinced.

How do you prove something like that, exactly? Stand on top of the Empire State Building and proclaim "Let there be light?"

Well, whether or not one can be harnessed by a machine, for a start. That would be a pretty good indication.

I can not presume to speak for those who name themselves a god in this world, but there is a difference in being one and in being considered one by others. But even true gods are not infallible.

You wish to kill one?

[ SEE. SCATHACH. SHE TOLD YOU. give her a quick little moment here for some private triumph.

I would say any god finding himself here would be in the latter category.

I've been considering it.

This is not necessarily true. Demi-gods and gods come in many forms, strengths, and areas of influence. If the Porter can hold me here, then there are those among them that could be held as well.

What good could come of it?

I wouldn't count demi-gods in the same realm as true gods. Which are you?

Satisfaction, for one thing.

I don't think there's one answer to that.

No. Obviously it would depend on the strength of the attacker. All I was wondering was if it were possible.
