Hello, Raven. Charles Xavier isn't here, but his school is. Am I to assume that you attended the Institute in your world?

[That gets another moment of confusion, but she tries to hide it. She's good at hiding things, at least.]

...His school? I...no, I'm not. Well, not really.

[slightly confused! but not letting it show because what kind of 10,000+ year old vampire would she be if she showed emotions all willy-nilly.]

Ah, well. There is a school, if you'd be interested. We're on break, of course, but the dorms are still open, I believe.

[She's turning the phone a bit as she talks, being a bit surprised at the color screen and all.]

Like a real school with semesters and classes? Not just...a training thing?

Training is optional. But yes, a real school.

[Well, it...it sort of made sense, really. If that voice wasn't lying, and she wasn't sure it wasn't. After fifty years, Charles's could've made a school.]

What kind of training? And...what year is it?

[spadassin]

Just power-training. Personally, I teach hand-to-hand and weapons combat. No powers allowed. But some of the teachers... specialize. With flying, energy, that sort of thing.

It's 2011.

[She shakes that particular mental breakdown away for a moment.]

So it's a school for mutants? That's...that's accepted? Normal?

... The sixties. A good time to be around, especially in the United States.

Anyone you talk to with your communicator is a mutant, as you say. It is normal, but not yet totally accepted. But the people are coming around. An Import is the mayor, the school exists. It is progress.

They've had their moments. So far.

[She doesn't really know what to say to that, so she's quiet as she thinks about it. The idea of mutants being accepted enough that they could be mayor of New York, well...it's more than even Charles hoped for.]

That's hard to believe.

The seventies are better, and the eighties more so.

And yet, true. Many things are that way.

I wouldn't know, since I just skipped them, apparently.

[She still doesn't really believe that. Despite everything.]

So do people just...walk around? Being mutants, I mean.

Find a history book.

If they so choose, yes. Some natives aren't pleased about it, but there isn't anything they can do without getting arrested, really. Equality became a big thing after 1968.
