Not in the literal sense, no.
[Suddenly, there's the sound of footsteps, and Beatrice lets out an ominous laugh. There's a pause, and in the midst of that, the sound of something---someone, as evidenced by the shriek---being stabbed.]
These vermin appear to be some kind of beast. Vampires, I believe. They have fangs, and their eyes glow in this dark.
