[accidental video]

[The video comes on, giving a view of Grell's ceiling. He's walking out of the shot, preoccupied, apparently not having noticed the comm drop out of his pocket while he was walking. That's because he's busy sitting back down in a chair in front of a small table, picking up a paintbrush and dipping it in what looks like the absolute gaudiest shade ( Read more... )

[He's already got a nice cover story cooked up involving naively buying this pretty paint off a seedy backalley merchant at an insanely high price, if worse comes to worse.]

N-now and again. I'm not...very good at it, I don't believe. Paint usually stains as well, so I don't really wish to risk the carpeting.

I should. And that nice merchant sold me this lovely paint, too - I really didn't want it to go to waste. It looked perfect for staining silk.

[An odd, vaguely disgusted look crosses his face.]

I...can't say I enjoy the taste, though. Most paints are more acrid, bitter - this must be a modern mixture.

[He is playing that stupid, yes. But red! He enjoys talking about red.]

It's a pleasant color to look at, I suppose. Yes, red is one of my favored colors. Do you have a favorite color, miss?

[Staring at this, recording it down, of course]

[he knows blood when he sees it]

In order to keep that great color, you're gonna have to put on a fresh coat every couple of days, ya know~

[He looks surprised, then crestfallen.]

A-actually,I really just meant to stain the silk - color fades too easily to keep so vibrant. I wonder if I could find that merchant again later on - if he would have more of that paint.

Ne, I wonder. Why not just buy real roses, anyway?

You...you know that stuff's kind of toxic...right??

[Yes, he's hoping thinking that is paint.]

Toxic? I thought this was the best method for removing excess paint from brush tips. Not a good taste in the mouth, but it always seemed to work. Is it really terribly dangerous?

[derrrrrp. Grell will be agonizingly naive if asked, of course.]

I'm pretty sure it is...

[Give him a moment. Two minutes later...]

Yeah, it's toxic.

Perhaps you can simply color the water you put the roses in with food coloring?

I doubt it would turn them out quite so... vivid, however.

Food coloring? I wasn't able to find any dye, if that is what you mean.

Instead, a man sold me this wonderful paint to use. He was...unsettling, and the price was exorbitant, but I couldn't let such an opportunity go.

[She's suspicious, yes, but not letting on for the moment.]

Anything with chemicals would probably kill them quickly. Supposedly, I've heard if you leave a white flower in a vase with colored water, the petals will become the same color in time. And food coloring has few or no harmful chemicals, as far as I know.

I see... I suppose you can't go wrong in that case. But it does mean you'll have to keep up with the coats of paint frequently.
