I have a question for you, my fellow imports. Keep in mind that the Porter has kidnapped us from our own worlds to "save" the civilian population here, to watch over and protect them in their helplessness in this dangerous, lawless land. And yet with our presence, mass-scale destruction is a common, if not weekly occurrence, and deaths well ( Read more... )

While that is the reason given to us for the Porter's actions, it's highly unlikely to be the actual reason. People have pointed out many times how illogical the idea is and its many faults; the Porter is capable of reason (and many other things besides), so it doesn't make sense for "her" to do these things unless "she" has a separate agenda.

That said, I think it's safe to say that its tendency to bring in destructive elements outweighs our abilities (however admirable) to combat them.

It's a shame no one's informed the majority of the imports of this agenda, wouldn't you say? Less people would be out trying to save the world, and more people would be in the upper continents herding animals.

I don't think anybody is trying to save the world, Mr. ...? But they do recognize the need of the people in the city for help, even if the Porter's reasons are obviously false. I gather, though I haven't done a formal study, of course, that plenty of people do not act as vigilantes or police, implying they are well aware of the Porter's possible ulterior motives.

Cavil. Brother Cavil, actually. In my home world, I was a priest, and every other title feels unnatural. Now, before I give my response, I'd first like to ask how long you've been here, and for the sake of politeness, I'd also like to ask your name.

A dinner, huh? Last time I had one of those... blah!

Not like I have anything else better to do!

I'd prefer an answer with a measure more enthusiasm, but I won't complain. Allow me to welcome you to the dinner.

A fine answer, Cameron, if I were asking a yes or no question. Mostly harmful, I take it?

If required to abide by the parameter of mostly one or the other, than on a physical and social scale the answer would be mostly harmful.

The imPorted community has provided some interesting advancements to the technology of this world, and protection against those currently housed in the location designated: THE HIVE but it does not outweigh the damage caused in the City's borders itself by it's own new residents.

Good evening, Cavil.

We're providing protection from the HIVE? I must not be keeping up with the news. Then again, I suppose our mere presence is enough, isn't it? How wonderfully passive.

Good evening, Cameron. How've you been managing?

Yes. A little more flourish than I'm used to, but the inherent benefits can't be denied.

I'm sure it will end up becoming far too entertaining not to attend, if only to watch. You can count me in.

And I might be able to guarantee another guest.

It's a nuisance. Though if it keeps her off the topic of identities then I will just have to put up with it.

At least you're getting her to talk to you. Does she seem at all suspicious?

She doesn't seem suspicious, but it means I'll have to keep my head down on any network posts. She's also too busy recovering in hospital from finding out her "powers".

She may already be out. I heard she's enlisted the aid of a number of healers. All the same, it's a relief that she's posted publicly. Now we know what she can do, and we also know she isn't very good at it.

Still. I find it sickeningly ironic she trusts you more than me. There's nothing she's told you privately?
