Chapter Nine

Good evening, city. I need you all to help explain something for me. I've acquired all of the information I can, and I've been rolling it over and over in my head since the weekend. It just doesn't make senseSo here we are in the "city". Many of us have been here for some time. Me, personally, about 5 months or so. I didn't really think it through ( Read more... )

City of New York. Not the state. There are fifteen officers for the City of New York. That number is still wrong. It's closer to forty-five with the number of people who aren't on this thing.

[ooc; I have always assumed that there were at least twice as many NPC civilians playing cops and robbers as there are PCs.]

Alright, in the City of New York there are generally eight million people, plus a few thousand, living here. There are civilians who are police? 3-4 people who are supposedly high ranking officers explained to me that not one civilian wanted to join the police force, because they were "afraid" that they would have the same fate as the cops who disappeared in the first place.

[ooc: Someone explain that to the people playing cops in this game, then. I always assumed the same thing, and then when Duke interviewed a few of them, they all said that they were severely understaffed and no one wanted to join the force. I'd love for it to be the way you said, because that would make a fuckton more sense considering NYC doesn't seem to be in the state of say, Escape from New York.]

I am not on my police-force relevant account, adurr, but I always assumed that too? If not more, like in the area of a hundred or so officers including NPCs. I mean, Jesus, if there are still enough civilians to get mowed down in huge numbers every time there's a disaster, and the infrastructure is obviously still... sort of... functional, it doesn't make any sense that every single one of the citizens with the cojones to keep living in the City would be pants-pissingly terrified of joining the cops. But I'm not playing in the administrative level (which sounds so stupid that I'm editing just to say exactly how stupid it sounds) so I wouldn't know what the actual figures are. :/

That's what makes sense to me, but again, on an IC level, Duke has been interviewing the police force all month ( ... )
