[ there are faint sounds in the background, but other than that, no noise reaches the communicator for a minute or two. When Kara finally speaks, she sounds rough, and her voice jumps from inappropriate amusement to paranoia, every few seconds ]

Mm. [ Kara stops speaking, as if that was all she had to say in the first place ] Anyone miss me ( Read more... )

Flew? Sure that's not the drugs they have you on there? [Yeah okay, you can't see it but there's nothing better than a broken Thrace to make your day.]

Would it make you feel any better if I said I missed you, Captain? You seem a bit worse for wear.

Wouldn't expect anything less, Nigel. Politeness and all.

I've been better.

If you're in hospital, I doubt they'll allow you to smoke. Though I doubt that'd stop you.

[ A beat. ]

Do you have any special requests?

They can't keep an eye on me every minute of the day. Helps when the police come down to let you have a smoking break, though. Guess they might not be so bad after all.

Mm, my lighter broke in the impact, or something. A new one wouldn't hurt.

Flying definitely beats some of the other powers people have picked up.

I'm sure it does. Not saying that I have a problem with flying, weirdness aside; just not too big on the falling part. Crash-landing is supposed to be a last resort, because you end up like this.

Yeah, I see why that could be an issue. Probably enough fliers here for you to find some assistance when you're healed up.

That sounds a little backwards to me.

For now, I'm sure you do. Unfortunately, morphine is addictive. Someone can probably give you flying lessons once you've healed; the Network is good for that.

Morphwhatnow?

Really, now, what isn't this network good for? It's like one frakking happy family.

I could give it a shot, but everything I'm coming up with happens to be a gigantic lie.
