[ There's the sound of fumbling and motion and then, after a click, the video function comes on. Nigel smiles, despite the fact that one of his eye sockets is bruised yellow and purple and another series of bruises gathered around the line of his jaw and chin and up slightly to one corner of his mouth. He shrugs. ]
As well as can be expected.

[ Cameron turns on her camera in kind; her eyes are red-rimmed and he obviously cried at some point, but right now she's got blankets buried up to her chin. The snow is visible through one of the windows behind her bed.
She tilts her head and takes stock of the damage and the location of all his bruises. ]
