Q - I found PowerDVD already installed on my computer but can't figure out how to take caps. Can anyone help?

A - If you've read this tutorial on how to cap with this program and it still doesn't work, don't be discouraged. Most computers that provide dvd playing software in the stock batch you get from just buying the thing will be the bare minimum. For features like screencapping you either need to upgrade or find a different program. Freeware that comes highly recommended in the community are:

BSplayer
Media Player Classic ( capping tutorial )

Q - I have an .avi file but I can't get it to play on my software. Why?

A - If you're trying on a DVD program, it might not be equipped to play the file. Download BSplayer since it is free and can play a wide range of media files.

Q - When I took caps with my program they came out as .bmps, is there anyway I can batch convert them?
A - Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop programs come with batch conversion tools but if you don't have either then try downloading Irfanview.

Q - How about batch resizing?

A - Many have stated that Irfanview can do this, too.

Q - And batch cropping? For those evil black sections on widescreencaps.

A - Again, convert to the power of Irfanview. We even have a tutorial!

Q - But I have a Mac, what can I take screencaps with?

A - What has been suggested so far is either Snap N Drag or Freesnap

Q - The memories keep giving me an error message, what's going on? And can anyone help me find ____?

A - During times of high traffic, the status page has mentioned the memories go down to take stress off the servers. To find what you're looking for, simply go to the Cap It calendar and click on the subjects link of the month(s) you would like to browse through.

Q - I use PowerDVD to make my caps but want to rename the files and capture them to a folder of my choosing. How do I do this?

A - After starting the DVD you would like to play, right click somewhere on the powerdvd screen and choose Configuration. IN the Player Setting tab, choose the Advanced option and click on the Capture to File radio button. In the field below this button is where you can browse your computer for the folder you want to caps to go in and at the end of the folder string is the name the caps will be saved as. Change the part between the last "\" and the file extension.
