Drinking Problem

I was reminded of something I admitted to my wife a few weeks ago: I have a drinking problem.

The problem is that I have too much booze and I am not drinking it fast enough!

A quick inventory showed that I have 117 bottles of wine. When I make a point of drinking wines I consume 2-3 bottles in a week. But I don't do that every week. Long term my average rate is probably about 3 bottles a month. You can do the arithmetic on how long it'll take to work through that backlog. Also, this is 117 bottles with me not having bought any new wine in 2-3 months (since I first admitted I have a problem).

Wine is not the end of the problem. I have 5 bottles of vodka, some of which I haven't touched in years. I have 3 brands of gin. I have 8 bottles of Scotch, all different brands/vintages and all open in various states of being partially finished. Again, this is without any purchases in the past 2-3 months, otherwise I'd definitely have at least 2 more bottles of vodka because there was a really awesome 2-for-$26 sale on Ketel One at a duty free shop I visited recently.

I think the problem is that I like to buy booze more than I like to drink it.

And yes, this is a problem because it means I'm spending money on things I'm not properly enjoying. Real money, because those bottles of wine are absolutely not Two Buck Chuck and none of those Scotches involve words like "Wild", "Turkey", or "Kentucky".

What's the solution here? Let's get your input.
