LAS Airport - Thu, 20 Feb 2020, 6:30pm
We wrapped up Day 3 our our sales kickoff (SKO) around 5:30 this afternoon. It had been a full day of internal review presentations and discussions. After saying goodbyes to colleagues I walked outside to catch a ride to the airport.
I enjoyed waiting for a few minutes outside in the fresh, not-smoked-in air for a few minute. It was my first time outside in almost 72 hours. That's Vegas for you!
Here at the airport I'm eating dinner and trying not to wolf it down. The habit of having to rush is hard to break. Plus, though it's food court food it's fresh, well made, and tastier than most food court food.
Timings are looking fine for tonight. My flight is tracking ontime for its 7:40 departure and 9:15 arrival. I should be home-home by 10 tonight.
Update 8:05pm: We boarded the aircraft on time but have been delayed 30 minutes and counting. We're sitting on the tarmac as there's a ground stop. Streets are shut down across Las Vegas, too, because the vice president is arriving in town for a campaign event. I've just seen his motorcade drive across the tarmac so I hope we'll get moving soon.
Update 9:55pm: Despite the delay on departure (see above) I've managed to get home just before 10. Initially I'd hoped to use the time to get a good night's sleep. I got only 4 hours last night! But at this point it looks like I'll be up until around minight unpacking, cleaning, and unwinding. At least I've got tomorrow off from work. I utilized one of
my few remaining days of PTO to supervise installation of
the new furnace and airconditioner we bought.
