In frequent flyer circles there's a concept known as the Mileage Run. It's a trip that's taken purely for accumulating airline miles. Just in case anyone's reading this (sh'yeah, right) or cares about the cost-benefit analysis (ditto) I realized I made a mistake in it. The gratuitous flying earns me 40,000 redeemable miles (it's double the actual flight miles), which I estimate are worth easily $650, not $350. So I'm looking at closer to $3000 of benefits, as opposed to $2500, for this wild hare of an idea.
