I'm entering the final stages of interviewing with three companies now.
- Company A is a monitoring/analytics company.
- Company B is a software automation tools company.
- Company C is a cloud data platform.
I expect that any or all of them will make me an offer within the next week.
Of these I think the most interesting opportunity is with Company A. That's partly because they have a good product and partly because I've discussed the possibility of team leadership with them. Company C has a strong product, too, but my role would be strictly that of an individual contributor. Unfortunately Company A has gone dark on me!
It's been nearly two weeks since I've spoken to anyone at Company A or gotten a reply message. This, on its own, would make me suspect they're offering the role I'm pursuing to someone else first and stringing me along in case the other person declines. But the third-party recruiter I'm working says they haven't returned any of her calls, either, and she's working with multiple candidates and positions. Perhaps the company is just super busy. It is nearing the end of quarter. But how hard is it to return a call to say, "Yeah, we're really busy now, we're postponing this decision two/three weeks?" Or perhaps their execs have decided on a brief hiring freeze and instructed staff not to discuss it. Either way, it's making me wonder if this job opportunity really is the best of the three.
