Canto 14: Such a Beautiful City

I have no complaints about this location. It operates on rules which I am familiar with; kill something and obtain something from it. I have yet to understand why some of the monsters carry vials on their persons, but it doesn't matter; here, at least, my programming is of some use ( Read more... )

I would not suggest that. Shin-Ra Tower is heavily armed, and if this really is my past, you going up there and causing a firefight may interrupt our timeline. I assure you that any answers you would want there I would be able to tell you. I do, however, doubt they are the ones you want.

But the individuals do not seem to notice me or my appearance on the street; would they see me in the tower?

Tell me about Shin-Ra and this war.

They may now. Things are becoming more 'real'.

Shin-Ra is the world-wide electrical company and de facto ruler of the planet. The war is with the Wutai people. Shin-Ra's armies finally overwhelmed them, and we won... turning it into a tourist trap.

I see. I take it that an ADAM unit is not something commonly seen in this world?

What happened to the armies on either side?

I doubt the answers are the top of that tower. Then again, in my experience, information like that has always been below ground.

But I don't think anyone but the gods really knows what's going on. Even if they've been quiet since that last threat from Atra.

My experience is the opposite; the further I ascend, the more answers I find.

The shifting of setting is inexplicable; I don't know why we're in someone else's world now. Nor is there any obvious reason why we are here.

Maybe you should talk to that Elendira person. Said something airships and flying...

Inexplicable? I wouldn't go that far. There's a reason for everything, even if it's hidden.

I... haven't met 'Elendira' before. Physical description, please.

I am not so certain that there is such an explanation. Unless 'someone's whims' qualifies.

It's another of the gods amusing tricks, I'm sure.

Though, the gaining something after killing it is a nice reward.

I would not be surprised if this is the case.

I agree. It's more familiar to me; even if I doubt I could make use of any of the 'rewards'.

You know how easily bored they get.

You could sell them for favors.

It's unfortunate that I do. I wonder if some sort of 'lesson' is supposed to be learned here.

I suppose I could. I'll make the offer later on today, then.
