I admit - before I even heard the commentary (which wasn't until fairly recently) I remember saying that there was a definite Grant/Hepburn thing going on there. I may even have posted that in one of my reviews.

They're probably my favourite movie partnership and those are among my favourite films ever.

Tennant gives Tate gravitas, and she gives him mirth.

*nods* As you say, they have those qualities individually, but when they're together, it's something really special.

Something special I will hope to witness up close and in person in about, oh, say, THREE MONTHS!

You are so right. They (both pairs) really have it. Chemistry. It's such a mystery, but when it happens, oh man. It's the best time of your life, even just watching it happen to other people! And of course I don't mean the romantic. I mean the chemistry that transcends the trappings of love and the physical. Whether it's real friendship, being soulmates...whatever it is, they have it in spades.

When you witness it? Yeah, please do tell us all about it. (Jealous!) :)

I soooo agree. <3 Mr. Grant, and used to be totally addicted to KH, but never can get past ST when he joins her on the screen. The films they did together just don't compare to the ones she did with Grant. The funny thing is that i think that Tracy came from a better background...but Grant completely knocks him out of the park when it comes to being a gentleman.

Cary Grant is an enigma. He completely invented himself. Even he wanted to be Cary Grant, he said.
