I agree with your review of "Artemis Fowl." I've read one of the sequels, but mostly because I like the world he created. I don't like it as much as Harry Potter, but it's hard to find a world as well created as that (Narnia, Middle Earth of course). I really didn't like having a criminal 12-year-old as a hero.

Have you read "The Poisonwood Bible," yet? I don't know what the books are that are of interest to you, but I recently read it for a book club and really enjoyed it. It's more thought-provoking than most books I've read recently.

"Defenders of the Faith" and "Face Down" will have to be added to my list to read.
