Up half the night reading "The Hunger Games" and polished it off this morning before running errands. It's been a a few years (not since "The Postman", I think?) since I've wanted to devour a novel so quickly. So many excellent characters! (Ciiiiiiinnaaaaa! <3 ( Read more... )

I only made it through the first four Dresden books (listened to them when I had a warehouse temp job that lasted a month or two, since they allowed ipods) and I keep wanting to go back and finish them... I shipped Murphy/Dresden so hard, though!!

I'm finding they're pushing the Murphy/Dresden ship a bit hard this book? I SHIPPED IT MORE WHEN IT WAS LESS CANNON.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a hipster shipper *g* (I love using fic to explore off-screen character dynamics, mostly?)

And it should be noted that I've been I've always made a fond exception for John/Aeryn. Pretty damn impossible not to ship them.

Actually, I'm kind of the same way. Almost all of my serious ships are non-canon. I mean, I spent my first six years in fandom doing RPS, so by the nature of the characters being PEOPLE and not characters, and also straight, it was very freeing. Now i just maintain the opinion that canon can't destroy what it doesn't acknowledge. ;)

And just the same for me, John/Aeryn is basically the exception!

I shouldn't be surprised that people who've friended me should feel that way too, but I'm so used to being in the minority for being fairly uninterested in major ships! *wiggles in delight* It sounds like we approach an interest in non-canon ships for different reasons, but that we're more or less in the same place :D

I've really enjoyed the stock character aspect of RPS! Defining canon over there is such a radically different exercise, I found that I'm less drawn to exploring new angles so much as diving into the pairings tend to gravitate around my favourite tropes.

CINNA IS PERFECT, RIGHT? Oh my god I love him. I still want to do a Cinna/Finnick fanmix, I shiiiip it.

I'm glad you're happy and I hope you feel better love. And I'm glad it was only a wee earthquake. *holds and loves*

I WANT TO KNOW ALL ABOUT CINNA. Why is he not particularly ostentatious? Why is he flirting rebellion? Why request District 12? Also, I look forward to meeting this Finnick of yours \o/

"Catching Fire" is making me ship Gale/Katniss/Peeta so hard, although discovering that Madge is into Gale is throwing a wrench into it. *tugs on hair*

(I adoreadoreadore the friendship between Katniss and Madge, but I can't really ship it, and trying to ship Peeta without Katniss somehow involved is like betraying the character. I CAN'T GET THERE.)

*snuggles*

THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD FICS, BB! SO MANY! Finish Catching Fire and then we can talk since Finnick is in most of them because he and Cinna are booooyfriends.

I SHIP ALL OF IT. KATNISS/MADGE, KATNISS/PEETA, KATNISS/GALE, GALE/PEETA, GALE/MADGE. The only one I haven't been convinced of is Peeta/Madge but if Katniss gets in there I'd be happy, HONESTLY.

LMAO HOLDING YOU

If you ship Cinna/Finnick, I'm going to assume that that means that he's not dead, because "Catching Fire", my heart! Oh Cinna. Also, yesyesyes Finnick is pretty excellent!

I HOPE THAT THE START OF COLLLEGY-THINGS GOES WELL

I had no clue you were reading The Dresden Files! WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THEM? I love them a lot and I think Summer Knight is when the series starts to get legitimately good. Also, Harry/Muphy! I honestly didn't ship them until the 12th book and I still sorta of don't ship them but I've hit the, "OH GOD, I JUST WANT YOU TWO TO BE HAPPY," stage.

Glad you're feeling happy, bb <33333

I really like them! It's fascinating to watch the style of the books evolve; we're already miles away from the pulp detective feel of the first novel.

I've been shipping them since the first book, but I don't know, this book is laying it on a bit heavy? There's been so much mistrust and bad blood between them and all of that reconciliation has happened off-screen. It's not very satisfying!

I hope that you're doing well too <3

Much love for the Hunger Games! You'll have to let me know how you like the other two books. The first one was such an amazing ride.

And it looks like they might do a decent job with the film version, at least I hope!

About a third of the way into "Catching Fire". Loving it too! I want to know all of the things about Cinna, although I'm getting a bit weary of the love triangle already. Please give me an OT3 or move on, plot! Super curious to see where the overarching plot goes and what's really going on in the outside world. (No way we're done with District 13!)

I'm on the fence about the film version, but that has more to do with the fact that I don't want to rewatch "Battle Royale" (which was a solid movie, I'm not knocking it at all) and I'm having trouble separating the two movies from each other, even if poor Hunger Games hasn't even been made yet.
