1) I think Kathleen Wynne is the OLP's Kim Campbell or Rita Johnson - they know they're headed for a colossal defeat in the next election, so they may as well pick someone that supposedly bolsters their progressive cred, so they can pretend that they're more open than they really are, and later claim that the loss was due to the prejudices of the voters instead of accepting that it was a verdict on the OLP. For the rest, nobody cares about Kathleen Wynne's personal life.

2) For heaven's sake. You have already been warned about abusing your membership in this group to promote your own site, and now that you're back, that's still the first thing you do? Really?

I mean, did you think everyone would forget, or not notice, or something?

I'm all in favour of reviving this forum - but NOT for you to hijack so you can try once again to divert traffic to your own site. If you want to discuss something here, either do it without the self-promotion, or don't do it at all.

1) I don't buy the Campbell/Johnson argument for a couple of reasons. First, I don't think most Liberals believe they are done for; and with good reasons. Unlike the Tories after Mulrooney or the Socreds after Vanderzalm, the Ontario Liberals are a tired government but not destroyed party. Renewal under a new leader is far from impossible.

And polls bear this out. An 8-point gap between first (NDP) and third (Liberals) is a helluva long way from an insurmountable lead.

Wynne and the people around her don't think of themselves as sacrificial lambs.

2) I had forgotten about the complaints in this particular group - probably because it's nearly comatose. But if you think it's okay to post a couple of paragraphs based on a link to an outside source but utterly represensible to post several paragraphs based on an article that the poster wrote, by all means, ban me.

Or rather, complain to the mods and get them to ban me. Livejournal needs another hotbed of Canadian political debates like canadianleft.

Really? Do I really need to complain to the mods to get you to respect the rules of this com - when it's already been made clear to you that your blatant self-promotion is not welcome here? Is that really the kind of jerk you are?

Really (what's so hard about including a subject-line, anyway?) ed_rex January 29 2013, 17:29:23 UTC
...respect the rules of this com

Which rule, specifically, are you talking about? "Don't overdo it" is pretty vague and I certainly don't think I am overdoing it.

Meanwhile, have a nice day. If you have anything to say about Canadian politics or our society in general, I'd be happy to hear it.
