What? I don't see a problem. The common thread here seems to be that losing has given them a chance to focus on their own lives, and their own physical and emotional wellbeing. It may be disappointing to lose, but on balance I don't see why anybody should feel sorry for them at all.
(Also, it would be nice if the Star had made an effort to find losing candidates from parties other than just the Liberals. But hey, it's the Star...)
