Every few years, the media churns out a story along the same themes as those explored in Friday's Globe & Mail: "Why are Canadian sex scandals so tame?"

The Brits have married MPs resigning in shame after three-in-a-bed gay romps, local politicians resigning in shame after being caught engaging in a practice colloquially known as "dogging",

I've heard it said that the reason there are no (few) sex scandals in Canadian politics is that the idea of Canadian politicians having sex with anyone is profoundly disturbing. :-P

I take it this past was prompted by the Dechert affair?

But the scandal isn't that he was sonsensually flirting with someone. It's that he was flirting with someone with whom he was supposed to have a purely professional relationship. Even worse, it was with someone who was essentially the operative (and possibly an actual spy) of a foreign government.

And I get that, really.

But you have to admit it's still a step down from drunken three-ways with rent boys, or getting caught tweeting your dick to your girlfriend.

Have you seen Australian politicians? There is a reason why there are no sex scandals there(well I guess here since I am currently in Perth), and really...if there were, I do not want to know. Now I am going to have nightmares about John Howard in a compromising position. :(

Clinton resigned? I don't think so. They tried to impeach him, but he completed both his terms.

Maxime Bernier's was worthy of scandal for leaving secret documents. As is cabinet and spies getting information.
