Ed Stelmach's Alberta has a greener focus then ever. This is what you get by having a farmer/rancher for Premier.
Alberta has another huge surplus of course. Most of that coming for oil and gambling revenue. 8.5billion extra money. That's more then $1000 per Albertan resident.
So what does a ProgressiveConservative government do with all that extra money? I'm sure they considered an ED-bucks program, sending $400 to every man, woman and child BUT IT'S NOT AN ELECTION YEAR.
Because it's not an election year, they are free to spend it on what's deemed necessary. It seems like in no time they've already earmarked all the extra dough. Nearly half of it is going to Green initiatives.
$2-billion to fund advance carbon capture and storage projects and another $2-billion to support energy-saving public transit initiatives. Fucking awesome!
