If the Court Challenges program was set up because the charter was untested, then sooner or later, it had to wind down. The charter has been with us for over two decades. Maybe it's time to let it stand on its own.

You seem to have very little faith in the Canadian population. Most are tolerant and open minded. A government that introduced intolerant and extremist legislation would quickly fall.

I should also point out that a second valuable legal institution has been chopped by the Conservatives - the Law Commission - which is, or rather, was a means of reviewing existing law in a comprehensive and collaborative way. Its $3 million budget is worth it for a source of independent advice to politicians on legal matters.

I know what I'm going to do about the Harper Revolution. I'm going to vote for him next time around. I was hesitant about them before, but now that I've seen some of their work, it isn't perfect but it's better than nothing. The GST cut, I'm pissed about that, because it was stupid from an economic perspective, but otherwise they're doing a pretty alright job, and the Liberals and the NDP (though they're irrelevant anyhow) are just looking worse and worse.

If they're trying to save money, cutting funding that helps people sue them doesn't seem like a bad idea.
