Does canon say that Sirius was the only Black who was Sorted into a House other than Slytherin? My bad. I phrased that wrong. I know Sirius was in Gryffindor, but does canon ever say that any other Black was Sorted into a House other than Slytherin

JKR said on her site somewhere that Sirius was indeed a Gryffindor. And yes, that would be interesting!

I have nothing to offer about it being canon or not, except that I can't remember anything about it, save that Ms. Rowling probably did say Sirius was a Gryffindor on her site. However, I want to offer my whole-hearted conviction that Andromeda, along with both of her other sisters, was a Slytherin. It was how she was raised, and only meeting Ted while she was in school changed her. (This is all brought to you by The Other Black Girl by Smelltastic.)

Here I go again, contradicting the very purpose of the site by offering the fandom opinion. BUT I can get away with it, because - I am the administrator. [supergrin]

Oh, I know that Sirius was a Gryffindor. Obviously I phrased that wrong. *grin* I was just thinking that if Sirius was the only Black who was in a House other than Slytherin, that meant that Andromeda had to be in Slytherin as well.

Do you have a link to that fic? (I'm assuming it's a fic. :D) It sounds cool, and I love stuff about the Blacks. *grin*

It is...I cannot describe the awesomeness of the fic. It is so awesome, I have made it canon. Not even Ms. Rowling can contradict it now. I do that every now and then - when I find a fic or a theory that's so original, and so creative, and makes so much sense - I title it Canon.

Anyway, here it is: The Other Black Girl. Unfortunately, it's a WIP, and it has been quite a while since the last chapter was updated...I think authors should sign a contract in blood before they begin a really good story. "I hereby swear that I will complete and finish this fanfic, on the condition that it remains in all ways good, creative, and fair. I am released from this oath only if the said fanfic begins to fail in writing and imagination."

I'm pretty sure that JKR said Sirius was a Gryffindor.

As for Andromeda, we simply do not know. We can be sure that Bellatrix was Slytherin due to Sirius' account of the "gang of Slytherins" in GoF; Draco says his "whole family" was in Slytherin so I assume Narcissa is included. But we do not know if Draco considers Andromeda to be part of his family or not, or whether he was just speaking off the cuff. Andromeda could have been in any House.
