Nothing specifically in canon AFAIR, but as Quidditch seems to follow soccer principles then the World Cup would be separate (and only held every 4 years - some European nations interrupt their season for World Cup matches) rather than at the end of the season - the last game of the season would be a National Cup match - the Quidditch Association Cup for example (NB. I have not checked QTTA for an actual organisation).
Given that significant matches are mentioned as being held in wintry weather (rain, snow) I imagine that the season does follow Soccer - from the first week of August to the second week of May.
Randomly came across your canon resources page and found this! The World Cup does indeed sound like it's only supposed to be every four years, in the summer, and it's for national teams (not professional ones). There is, however, a European Cup (for professional teams), probably based on the RL Champions' League, which is every three years.
Sometimes my headcanon has put the Quidditch season within a single calendar year, not like RL football/soccer. In book 5, on the way to Hogwarts (so September 1), Luna's reading a magazine article about the Tornadoes, who are leading the league, and if the season didn't start until August that doesn't seem to line up perfectly. But it's up to you!
(Nice icon!) Now that I look back into it, that was the same issue that Arthur gave to Kingsley on Harry's hearing (August 12 according to HP Lexicon). So I would say it almost has to be from the previous season it it really is August-to-May...is it mentioned there that it's a new issue?

Maybe I can pretend Luna was reading a months-old-article upside down. ;-)
