She never did, I don't know where that came from. His Animagus is a stag, that's all, nothing about a patronus and James were mentioned. Where on the lexicon does it say that?!

Why is it that out of the list of skills, the patronus is the only thing not cited from the books or interviews? I think that answers itself.

Actually, JKR said in an interview after the fifth book came out that people's Animagus' would take the same form as their Patronus'. Sorry that I can't find the interview.

Actually, she didn't. She said that she'd given Hermione her ideal Animagus - the otter - and later Hermione's Patronus ended up being an otter. Either she got mixed up or she meant that she'd given Hermione her ideal Animagus for a Patronus. Animagi appear to represent the essential character of a person, while Patroni can apparently change a lot more than essential characters of people.

I now wonder if your Animagus can change the same way a Patronus does if you've undergone a big emotional upheaval.

I think it'd have to be really huge. I always figured your potential Animagus could change, but once you'd actually become one it would stay that way unless something really drastic happened. In which case you'd probably have to learn all over again, since you'd be changing into a different animal completely. But that's my semi-sciency magical theory, and it doesn't necessarily follow Rowlingean logic at all.
