There's something seriously and horribly wrong with my computer. I just spent the last 2 hours trying to boot it up. Now that I've finally managed it, just barely, I found that my whole documents folder disappeared (along with a lot of other less important things). ...I've got two huuuuuuuge papers due the first week of November and all of my ( Read more... )

Talk to your professor about your computer problems. Since it's a week before that you're addressing this issue and not the day it's due, he/she will listen. Explain that you had a lot of research saved up in those folders, and that you now have to start over from scratch, and ask if there is any amount of lenience they could offer.

I've done some tweaking and rebooted the computer. For /now/, I'm able to access my documents folder and managed to backed up all my school files. EVERYTHING'S OKAY NOW (at least until the next time my computer decide it doesn't want me to be happy).

Since I've already commented on the bb!Spock pic, I'll just comment on the second one. And all I have to say is this: This needs to happen in the next movie!

Take it to a computer doctor asian powers (go to a shady place) and see if they can't help for cheap. And also talk to your prof/ta... Man, this shit totally happened to me two days before stuff was due. =___= Except I was able to grab the file and just worked on it at school really desperately while backing it up every like twenty minutes at home `cause I was obviously working on it at 4am. Seriously, good luck.

I wanted to see Red, too, but ehhhh, prices... and bastards who mysteriously don't take coupons anymore.

Things are all okay for now. I've managed to access my school store and backed them all up on my external. COMPUTER, JUST BE ALIVE FOR ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL MY BIG PROJECTS ARE FINISHED, OKAY?!

RED isn't horrible, but it's not an absolute must see if that'll help with you decision making process. XD;

Your school stuff's also okay? I didn't even discover this until I started putting a safety copy of most valuables it into a third harddrive, but ~half of my A section of BL was corrupted upon the initial crash, so just be careful. =__= It is so fucking hard to redl manga and confirm I have what I need to have. Ugh, the downside of being a goodass porn leecher.

No, I already gave up when I discovered I had to pay full price. Will dl it!! XD

Pheeew, always a heartstopping moment when you think you've lost all your stuff!! Glad to hear it was a false alarm. It happened to me for real two weeks before a big essay was due and I wrote a piece of total shite - fortunately it got me the grade I needed XD Hoping your stuff does too!

Some files I was still unable to recover and are lost forever in the abyss of my dying harddrive. At least I got all my important school files back.

It's not a virus. My anti-virus was functioning properly until the computer suicided. I think it's more of a hardware problem... that being my laptop's old and the hard drive is slowly dying. ;__;

Also, SHEEEELLLLDOOOOOONNNN!!! <3 Trying to make people's brains explode~
