Lesbian's potential awesome (I think her name was Fang) has been tainted because they felt it necessary to broadcast she was originally slated to be a man and then proceed to keep nearly every single masculine trait in-game thus making it seem like a really transparent ruse of keeping the party gender ratio equal.

She makes for a good older brother figure for the team?

But, eh, maybe I'm just being too easily irritated about that (then I remember that Lightning is, from Nomura's mouth, a female Cloud and my mind slides back to darker thoughts). :|

Well, I guess it's tainted if you know that, which I didn't until just now, thanks heaps XD j/k j/k imma do my best to not let authorial dumbassery spoil whatever funtimes I can squeeze outta this thing.

Totally a female Cloud. The femaleness is possibly her saving grace! Although idk, I'm not far in, she could turn out to be boring regardless. XD;

By all means have as much fun as you can XD. Some of the more entertaining skits/events are actually post game in the missions....thing unless they changed the name, so don't forget those!

Am still in liminal pre-game state where ff13 might yet turn out to be ff12: the sequel*. Obv impossible, 12 cast is never coming back, except for Balthier over and over and over.

FFXIII just looks so incredibly bland... How is the battle system at least?

Newer games have a bad habit of making menus unreadable on unless viewed on HD, it is a problem with Bayonetta and Last Remaant....

Bland is the perfect word for it! So far, anyway. Idk I'm terrible at describing battle systems because I just haven't played that many games, but this one makes me feel really disengaged, like I'm not doing anything--like it minimizes player participation. It's boring! I mean, I know some people made that complaint about XII, but with XII you could be as involved or as auto-pilot as you wanted to be. In XIII instead of "gambits" there are "paradigms," but they're more like the AI in P4 than the gambits in XII--like, you can set a paradigm for everybody to attack, or for one party member to act as healer, one as stat booster, or whatever. It's also more like P4 in that when you engage an enemy you go to a separate battle screen, and within that battle screen you can't physically move the characters around (or if you can, I'm so dumb I haven't figured out how to do it yet)--they move, but they do so on their own; it's out of your control. This is still driving me crazy ( ... )

ah ok thanks for the info! So it's more like a traditional FF. (eg hit a lot of x, watch shiny things happen) XD

It's a little after the fact, but FFXIII was developed by an entirely different team from the guys who did FFXII. Which would explain the differences. :U

(actually, half the FFXII guys worked on The Last Remnant, not sure what they are working on now?)

Oh, I wasn't expecting them to be alike, necessarily, it's just that I have so little to compare to. There is definitely a lot of watching things happen. Occasionally some hitting x. ._.;

Snow and Serah is SO TRASHY I'm sorry Japan, no. Don't tell me that chick is eighteen. She looks twelve and her character model is a frightening little stick woman. She's there to appeal to the guys who play those moe moe h-games were the women all have eyes the size of saucers.

And I don't care if Fang was originally slated to be a guy, she's awesome and she should've been the main character by virtue of the fact she is badass, has a personality, and her storyline seems ten times more relevant to the central plot of the game.

Also anyway I hope the ending involves Snow getting arrested for statutory.

Oh, like 90% of my fave pairings involve statutory so for me that's not the issue. XD;;; They both look like babies to me, Snow's just...a beefier baby. I mean, I'd believe they could be undergrads but undergrads also look like babies to me these days. The size differential reminds me of Kusanagi/Yuzuriha from X, but Kusanagi/Yuzuriha is marginally interesting, whereas Snow/Serah...isn't. Just makes me think of brainless kids getting married straight out of high school, or something. It's pastede on, there's no development, dear Squeenix one scene with ~*fireworks*~ doth not a romance make. They can die in a fire for all I care. p.s. I hate Snow's bandanna.

Thoughts on Fang pending getting to know her better.
