I like the endings. I really do. Because I may be a horrible romantic, but I tend to fall in love with people who first start loving me and working slowly at getting me over to their point of view. And I'd like to think I'm not the only one. ^_^
(Nomiya/Ayu is on my list of Things To Write When The World Gives Me Thirty-Five-Hour Days.)
I don't think it's a question of one's level of horrible romantic-ness: I'm pretty horrible and romantic, I just have doubts about the efficacy of wooing. Although I want to believe, at least in the context of this particular fiction.
It may be more realistic relative to other sorts of shoujo happi endo. (Of course realism is in the eye of the beholder...there are some readers/viewers of HachiKuro who find it totally preposterous that 5 kids could get through college without ever getting laid. Tragically, haha, it can indeed happen.)
But the parallel situation of all 3 female leads is a little too...parallel. I mean, in a "realistic" scenario one would expect more variation in the outcomes, surely. It makes me think Umino isn't being merely representative, but is expounding on her Grand Theory of Love. Or something.
