You should see the photos from when Canberra was on fire in early 2003.
We had contained fires burning on the outer parts of the ACT (8-10% of ACT burning) for a week until a strong wind came and pushed the fires towards Canberra. In the space of 10 hours, 70% of the ACT was burnt out and over 500 houses were destroyed. Taking population and density ratios into account, that’s the same as having Santa Ana burnt down.
If the wind had been maybe 4 knots faster, half of Canberra would have been burnt.
