Green & Black's Maya Gold

Oct 29, 2006 17:56

In the spirit of the Season of Much Sugar Consumption that we are in the midst of, I thought I'd make a review of my very favourite confection: ( Green & Black's Maya Gold chocolate bars. )

i bought my first Green & Blacks the other day! it is the Almond kind, and i haven't actually opened it up yet. i found them for $2.99 (!) so now that i've heard i may have to go back and buy one of each.

$2.99?! Do I smell the potential for another candyswap in the making?! Sadly I am in Canada too, and would not be able to send fun foreign candy, but Winnipeg IS the home of the mighty Clodhoppers. Do you have those in BC?

yeah, there are clodhoppers here. i actually can't eat them anymore, though. i ate too many at a movie once, and the thought of them has made me slightly sick ever since.

Perhaps it's a BC thing - I buy them for 2.99 or lower if they're on sale.

Here is a group review of a bunch of the flavors that we did over at Candy Addict. Good stuff, in general. I didn't care for the Maya Gold though.

Interesting that you conversely found the spices too overpowering. I've resampled and am still getting more orange than spice. I wonder if they changed the recipe, or if the ones we get in Canada are slightly different?

Hazelnuts and currants is REALLY good.

I want to try this, as I LOVE hazelnut, but I'm a little weary of the idea of currants in my chocolate.

If you actually dislike currants, it might not be a good idea I guess. But I'd never had them before, and I thought they were just a lot like raisins, only a a little more "delicate" I guess.
