Hey folks, new member here.  Found the community through Candy Addict, and I thought I'd say hello.  Hello!

Since Halloween is bearing down upon us, I've had candy on the brain.  Since there's all kinds of cheap goodies to be had around this time of year, I'm planning on picking up a fair chunk o' sweet, sweet candy goodness for myself and to ( Read more... )

Nothing is better than Brach's mellowcreme pumpkins and candy corn. It's not just my favorite Halloween candy, it's my favorite candy ever (I stock up >_<).

Mmm...yeah, nothing beats candy corn. I swear, they always taste one step away from flavored wax, but they're just so darned tasty! I don't even mind that they're loaded with so much sugar, they make my tastebuds pucker and die.

I used to have fun with those wax lips, and as a kid, I really loved those wax bottles with the liquid inside of them. When I got older, I tried one of those bottles again, and I couldn't remember what I liked about them for the life of me. They were so sickeningly sweet, I wanted to gag! But the wax was still fun to chew on. It's almost like very mildly flavored chewing gum.

I love getting mini Butterfinger, Snickers, and Milky Way bars, seeing as they're my favorite candy bars. I also like these kind of random peanut butter crunchy things that are hard to describe but have stars on the package. Peanut M&M packages are good, too!

Candy bars taste better when they're mini, I think. The Boyfriend brought home an assortment of mini-candy bars last night, and there were Milky Ways, Snickers, and Three Musketeers inside the bag. He also brought a bag of old school candies that had Junior Mints, Dots, Tootsie Rolls, and Charleston Chews. We spent a fair amount of time comparing the taste of Charleston Chews to Milky Ways, trying to get a sense of what the hell nougat really tastes like.

Smarties always tasted so chalky to me, but I eat them anyway. I think it's part of the nostalgia factor. A friend and I were discussing Almond Joy the other day, trying to figure out why people eat it, and we decided it was purely the nostalgia factor. I have no idea if it's available outside the States, but who in their right mind would eat Almond Joy for the taste? I think it's a little like eating stale German chocolate cake, but not in the good "mmm, cake!" sense.

I like Almond Joys and Mounds... they're sort of melt-in-you-mouth-y pocket versions of German chocolate cake, yeah. I don't mind the staleness so much.

Erg, Mounds? But-but-but they don't even have the redeeming nutty crunch to them! Oh well, to each their own. Admittedly, I'm quite biased. I'm not a huge fan of that coconut texture.
