numb3rs100 prompt: Soldier...
Title: A Different War
Characters/Pairings: Colby
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Summary: The uniform had changed...
Spoilers: none
Notes/Warnings: OMG, I'm in love with this month's theme at
numb3rs100. The muse definitely heard the call for this prompt. I've written a couple Soldier!Colby fics/drabbles... so I tried to do something different with this (remembering that I'm a bit rusty after a two month writing drought). I hope you enjoy.
FBI kevlar covered his torso. Thigh holsters hugged each leg while his trusted weapon, a custom tactical response pistol, rested securely in the holster at the back of his jeans. A blood stained tear cut across his sleeve from the bullet that had grazed his arm. Just a scratch, he told the medic. He'd suffered worse.
Standing alone in the weapons locker, he looked at himself in the mirror and straightened. The man staring back at him he recognized from a time long passed. The uniform had changed, but he was still a soldier... fighting a different kind of war.
