Notes/Warnings: My math brain wanted to dazzle you all with the populations of each of the towns/cities that Colby had been... but this was much easier. I hope you enjoy. :)

He'd been many places in his life. A small town boy from Idaho who attended the state university; he joined the Army and was sent to Missouri for basic before Aberdeen. After his tour ended, he found himself in Quantico.
Nearly every place he'd been seemed like that small town home… low populations, lush green hills or wide open plains, frigid winters, mild summers. For a country boy from Idaho, that's how he liked it.
Now… he had his orders. Los Angeles… population 3.7 million, with pavement and skyscrapers. Not even the deserts of Afghanistan seemed so far from home.
