Quite.... in fact, Dave did mark the occasion, by hanging an American flag on the front of the house. We're re-enactors, so we have this sort of thing to hand, and a Confederate battle flag seemed appropriate to us.

It all goes to show that some Americans (apologizing for my countrymen) forget that the rest of the world is not the USA. Some person had to write that question and they might have a rotten spot on their brain.

They probably meant "Your national day" or "the equivalent of the Independence Day". Still pretty stupid, because it assumes that people have anything of the sort, but at least marks for trying. I guess. Sort of.

Well, for us Independence Day is 11th of November, so still quite some time away. Mostly it's flags, parades, but given the date and the fact that plenty of people are around to remember the horrors of war it's quite the gloomy occasion.
