Um, anyone catch Caprica? I kinda love it so far. Tell me I'm not alone, please? Also? Esai Morales is still hot. Maybe hotter than twenty years ago, even

YES to Caprica. I think the station they air it on here is about a week behind as last week was the two hour premiere and I really enjoyed it. Pretty sure it airs on Fridays. I had watched a few episodes of Battlestar Galactica enjoyed it but it was tough to get into in the middle, kind of like Heroes was so Caprica is just the right show. :)
The start with the zealots blowing up the train made me think this was going to be a show worth watching, not for the explosions but for the social commentary that sees humankind with the issues we have now. Not exactly ST in that respect, showing a shiny socially evolved humanity. And the two main characters, Joseph and Daniel should provide some great conflict. Doesn't hurt that imo, hey are both nice to look at. Oh, and the Vancouver library was in the pilot, that curvy building and that put a smile on my face. Love that place. This show is on my list now.
No, it aired last week here too, I just watched it tonight though.
No offense or anything, but yeah, I don't really care so much about the social commentary and the realism as compared to now. I mean, in real life I care, but as far as tv, that sort of thing doesn't sway me one way or another. A good story, good writing, good acting, that is all I care about and that show totally delivered with that premiere.
Man, like I said, Esai Morales is even hotter now. Another one I loved in high school, I even had pictures of him cut out from Teen or Bop or one of those magazines, LOL. And Eric Stoltz looks pretty good too, I can't even remember the last thing I saw him in.
Oh, no offense taken hun. I didn't mean that to come off as pretentious or anything; I just find that in addition to a good story, I do like it when they throw in a few tidbits like that. I find that thought provoking. Not that I necessarily agree with the philosophy of all of the bits though.
Yah Esai Morales is fine and I love that bit of you, the teen heartthrobbing. :)
The OH has watched it and liked it... he was talking about how the acting was great and that it looked more promising that the rest of the franchise.
I don't really watch much Sci-Fi but I thought I'd tell you that. *g*
Also... I had a sad moment with Frakes. We were watching an episode of Criminal Minds and I really didn't recognize him until he spoke... the other Trek stars seem to be aging so well.
It was so good! I never watched BSG, I don't really know why. I am going to make Nick watch it this weekend, see if he likes it. Does the OH watch a lot of Sci-Fi? Or does he stick to, uh, buddy cop shows like his OH does? ;)
Oh I know, he, Frakes, is hardly recognizable now. He was at a con here a couple of years ago that they could harly give tix away to, it makes me sad. He was always my favorite on TNG, followed closely by Picard, Beverly and Troi.
The Vixen household is a Venn diagram of viewing delight... Y'know the two circles one only the overlap is huge... Erm... *sniggers*
As to the bits that don't overlap he has stuff like most Sci Fi, Frank Zappa, Southern Rock, most Modern Art and poetry in his circle. My non-overlapping bit has things like most musicals in it.
Fortunately, buddy cops shows and mysteries are in the overlap. *g*
I think part of it was that Frakes was playing a truly revolting paedophile.
Haven't watched Caprica yet - so you'll excuse me if I just scroll and go LALALALALA over yours and dragonlit's comments, lol - but I really really do plan to fix that soon as I really loved Battlestar Galactica and even though I know it's meant to have quite a different feel I do have a bizarre degree of trust in the production team.
Speaking of dragonlit, I already threw this at her a little while back when she confessed her Riker-love after that Criminal Minds ep (evil pedophile FTW! er...), but seeing as much of it comes from 'Second Chances' you might enjoy it too ;)
It may have given me sad face if I didn't find Criminal Minds so ridiculous that I can never take it seriously. That probably punches another part of my ticket for the Special Hell, because I'll grant it was a creepy episode, but every baddie on that show is always so thoroughly twisted that I just end up snorting into my wine a little. *is bad person*
Also, Wil Wheaton has also played a creepy rapist/murderer on the same show, so now I'm holding out for a sort of TNG reunion of psychopaths. *is bad person with a bingo card*
BUT. The other day on twitter, Wil Wheaton was waxing poetic about his epic mancrush he once held for Frakes in the form of beard envy. That combined with this bizarre twist that they've both played creepy rapists on the same show make me want RPF. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME???
Truthfully, I am looking forward to Caprica -- once it is over. I made the mistake of picking up BSG mid series, and while I liked the ending, I'm not sure I would have watched the show at all if I had known where it was going, and who would die along the way. (I'm still bitter about Billy, sorry...)
