Sink or … well, you know the rest

I just got in from my first ever proper swimming lesson. Yes, I’m 26 years old and can’t swim to save my life-literally. But since this summer I found myself newly single and with a lot more free time on my hands, I decided to throw myself into fitness. I began jogging daily (I’m up to 5.5 miles/day); I took up yoga; and I decided that I finally ( Read more... )

Some of the weight loss was beyond my control. Something happened that adversely affected my appetite and I was barely able to eat anything for quite a while. It was painful and unpleasant, but on the plus side, the pounds just melted away. I still don't eat as much as I used to, but it's not as bad as it was before.

The running has also helped. A two or three months now I've been running pretty much every day. I started off with 2.25 miles a day and gradually worked up to 5.5. Occasionally taking a day or so off can help reenrgize your body and burn pounds more efficiently. Plus get lots of sleep. You need to be well rested to burn weight efficiently.

And now I'm adding swimming to the mix. If you want to lose those pounds, you've got to work them off!

I should try getting into swimming, too. In fact, I will. Time to break out the water hose and the kiddie pool!

All kidding aside, I have been thinking about swimming. It's one of the activities my doctor wants me to look into. I wonder how quickly I could get back into swimming, though. The last time I did any serious laps was with Tene about eight years ago.

It would certainly b easier on the joints than running would.

True. I don't know that I want to blow out my knees out this early. I'm hoping that diet and walking will help me get down a weight where I feel comfortable going to a pool to swim.

We say starches or starchy food. We also say carbs or carbohydrates.

En fin! je suis capable de nager. C'est essentiel pour un canard! Et pour un pingouin aussi!

I think you'll enjoy being athletic, and just feel better overall with the swimming. I come from an athletic family. My sister and her partner are coaches of swim teams, so I learned the skill quite young! :-)

Enjoy yourself, and I can't wait to hear more later on. Cheers!
